The fascination with Log Cabin blocks is still strong, and I have developed a second template!
This one is for small 4-inch blocks with narrow bars measuring just over 1/4″.
They are surprisingly easy to sew up and I am rather addicted myself. For this sample quilt that you are seeing in progress, I am using Michael Miller Cotton Couture in yummy chalky pastels coupled with Graphite.
Paper pieced log cabins are perfect for sewing at night when a little tired – really, all you need is to sew on the black lines. You don’t even have 1/4″ seam allowances to deal with! I put on a good audio book and plant myself in front of the sewing machine with a little ironing station next to me and off we go!
To share the joy I have made the templates available as a digital download on Etsy and Craftsy. In addition, you can also order packs of pre-printed and cut templates that you will get mailed to you.

Have fun with these! They make some truly exquisite blocks!
