I have been toying with the concept of making fabric butterflies for a while and here are a small family of them just hanging out among the nasturtium and calendula in my garden. I will make a pattern for these that will be for sale in May.
I used springy batik fabrics from Island Batik’s Blender and Basics collections.
Because of the super-tiny seam allowances I will recommend doing this project in batiks only since they are much more resilient to unraveling. To be able to prop these cuties up like I did I simply glued the end of green fiber wrapped flower wire to the underside of each butterfly.
The idea is that you can put them in flower pots in your house, or maybe wrap them onto a wreath.
Are you quilting anything special for spring?
