I have always wanted to sew a quilt with equilateral triangles and I finally took the plunge.

I have also gotten a bit inspired by Kathy Doughty’s lovely books, Making Quilts and Adding Layers, and her advise to sort your fabric into color families rather than having it sorted by designer or collection. I mostly took her advise and split up my neat piles of moderns, brights, civil war reproductions, batiks, etc.

Instead I decided I wanted my quilt in reds and blacks and collected completely on the basis of color. I love the result. Triangles of Tula Pink next to Scottish tartan, Marci Derse, and Island Batik fabrics.

Can’t wait to continue the piecing!
