Yay! It is finally done. I quilted this several weeks ago and it has been hanging over my studio door waiting for the magical moment when I find time to sit down and hand-sew the binding on the back. Given that I am in the last few weeks before sending all the quits for my upcoming book to the publisher, that moment never came.
What arrived instead was my mom from Norway last week. She took needle and thread in hand and spent some patient evenings sewing the binding on the back for me. Normally I actually love that last step, but this time I was so happy that she helped me move this quilt out of my UFO pile.
Yesterday, I wrapped it in pretty paper and took it to the post office. It is a surprise early Christmas gift for an old friend.
